IN THE DISTRICT COURT HELD AT ANLOGA ON THURSDAY THE 6TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 2022. BEFORE HER WORSHIP REJOICE ASEYE GADAGOE, DISTRICT MAGISTRATE. CASE NO.: B3/01/2023. THE REPUBLIC VRS ELIZABETH KORSHIWOR AKAKPO SUMMARY JUDGMENT: CHARGES: Causing harm: Contrary to SECTION 69 OF CRIMINAL OFFENCES ACT, 1960 (ACT 29). PLEA: Guilty with Explanation. EXPLANATION OF THE ACCUSED: “On 11/06/2022, I dried cassava leaves on the ground and my younger sister kept pouring water around the place. She also has her grinding stone there. I have demarcated the place. When she wanted to grind pepper, I attempted to block the leaves well with the Aluminum sheet. She reacted by attempting to pour the “pepper water” on me. I used the Plastic container in my hand to hit her forehead. She retreated and emerged with her nose bleeding”. SECTION 69 OF CRIMINAL OFFENCES ACT, 1960 (ACT 29) AS AMENDED; provides as follows: “Causing harm A person who intentionally and unlawfully causes harm to any other person commits a felony” CONVICTION: Accused person’s explanation does not exonerate her. Her own Guilty Plea is Affirmed. SENTENCES: The Convict is sentenced to 50 Penalty Units. In default, she shall serve a 3-month term of imprisonment. The convict shall in addition, enter into a Bond to be of Good Behaviour for One Year. COMPENSATION: The Convict shall compensate the complainant with FIVEV HUNDRED GHANA CEDIS (GH¢500.00).
