The appellant was not }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 satisfied as }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 he wanted Shs. 15,000/\emdash . He promised to come }{ \rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243\charrsid10439371 back}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 on Wednesday. After they had left }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid1843811 Kyebambe went again to Wandegeya}{ \rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 Police Station to report the matter. He was again advised to deposit some money with }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 them }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 in order to lay a trap. Kyebambe then deposited Shs. 3000/\emdash in }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243\charrsid10439371 notes}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 whose numbers were recorded and the notes were handed back to him. On Wednesday two police officers were placed in the houses and other}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 s }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 in plain }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243\charrsid10439371 clothe}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 s}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 stayed in the compound, but the appellant did not turn up on that day. On Friday in the same week the appellant went }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 to the shop }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 and told PW }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 2 that t}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 heir case had been finalised. PW}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 2 sent a boy to }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 the }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 police station to alert them, but by the}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 time }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243\charrsid10439371 they}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 cam}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 e the appellant had left by taxi}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid5468243 . The only discrepancy in their evidence wan }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 that PW2 said the a}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 ppellant}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 demanded}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 Shs. 21,000/-}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 while }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ai\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 PW3 }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 said he demanded Shs. 20,000/-. Again D/Sgt. Esira Magara (PW}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 4) of }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid1843811 Wandegeya}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid1843811\charrsid10439371 }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 Police Station did confirm what Kyebambe told him }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 and}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 the eve}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 nts that followed immediately be}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 fore the appellant\rquote s arrest. Here a}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 gai}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 n there was some }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 discrepancy}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 a}{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 s }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 to the amount }{ \rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 the}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 appellant }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 demanded. George Serunjogi (PW5}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 ) also said that he knew the appellant }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 because}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 he had gone to}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 their shop in connection with }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 a printing machine together }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 with an Army man. He again saw t}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 he appellant at }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid1843811 Wandegeya}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 Police Station. So much for }{\rtlch\fcs1 \ab\af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 the }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid10358053 prosecution evidence. \par }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 The a}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 ppellant}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390 in his defence merely denied the}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 allegation}{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 and stated that }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid7555390\charrsid10439371 he }{\rtlch\fcs1 \af0 \ltrch\fcs0 \insrsid9789635\charrsid10439371 was at home in the village at the material time.
