The court found that the plaintiff had been in actual, open, exclusive, and continuous possession of LIMURU/KAMIRITHU/T.192 since the 1950s, far exceeding the statutory twelve-year period required for adverse possession. The defendants and their predecessor had never been in possession of the suit property, and the plaintiff's occupation was without their consent. The mistaken belief by both parties regarding the correct parcel did not affect the adverse nature of the plaintiff's possession, as the law views the act of possession objectively. The court held that the relevant period for adverse possession began on 23 March 1959, the date of first registration in the name of the defendants' predecessor, and by the time the defendants asserted their claim in 1993, the plaintiff had already acquired title by adverse possession. The plaintiff met all legal requirements for adverse possession, and the court ordered the transfer of the suit property to her.
