Ruling

1. This is an application for extension of time. The Accused was convicted of the offence of Robbery with violence and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment on 31/1/2023.

2. Although there has been inordinate delay in lodging the appeal, the Court has considered that the applicant is in custody and he may not have had facilities for legal representation. Further the State is not opposed to the application for extension of time.

3. In view thereof, I allow the Notice of Motion dated 9/12/2024. Leave is granted to the applicant to file a Petition of Appeal within 30 days.
