The Convict is 45 years old. He has one dependent child and he is a first offender. The amount of drugs involved is very small indeed, 2.6 grams of substance containing only 0.4 grams of heroine (diamorphine). There is no commercial value, therefore I do not see any aggravating circumstances in this case. He has pleaded guilty and saved the Court's time of taking the case to trial and also expenses. [2] He has already spent one month on remand. I will not impose any other prison sentence. I impose a fine of SRS,000/- on the Convict. I give him three months to pay. lfhe defaults, he will be sent to Prison for 6 months. [3] He can appeal against the sentence within 30 working days. 2
