RULING ON SENTENCE

I have considered the circumstances of this case wherein the accused has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and that the deceased was an innocent young child, as well as the fact that the accused though a first offender is said to be in the habit of smoking bhang, as well as the mitigation and the pre-sentence report filed and the fact that accused has been in custody since 2017. I order on sentence as follows –

1) I sentence the accused to serve five (5) years imprisonment.

2) The accused is hereby also warned to desist from smoking bhang.
