COURT SENTENCE

I have considered mitigation by the accused.  He is a young person with young family.  He is also remorseful and pleads for leniency.  I note that the probation report recommends non- custodial sentence.  However this is a serious offence and of gender based violence on women.  I will therefore mete out a jail term.  But as he has been in custody for 6 years, I will sentence him to serve a jail term of 10 years.  Sentenced accordingly under Section. 204 of C.P.C
