SENTENCING
1. I have considered the mitigation of the accused.
2. That he is a first offender. That he is remorseful. That he is now a changed person who have stopped drinking.
3. However, I have considered the brutal manner in which the offence was committed. How brutally the victim was murdered.
4. In the circumstances I set aside the death sentence and I sentence the accused to 25 years imprisonment from the date of earlier sentence.
Right of appeal 14 days.
