R U L I N G

The accused was initially charged with the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code.  Upon plea bargaining, the charge was reduced to manslaughter contrary to section 202 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code.  He admitted the charge and was convicted on 7/10/2013.  This Court called for a detailed social inquiry report.  The Probation Officer M/s Nguu has presented this Court with a detailed social inquiry report covering all aspects of the accused’s life.  It’s such an impressive report and I wish all other officers would follow suit.

I do find the accused suitable for a non-custodial sentence.

Order

He will serve three (3) years probation.
