Accused

Sentence

1. The accused herein was charged with murder but convicted of a lesser offence of manslaughter contrary to section 202 as read with section 205 of the Penal Code.

2. I have considered the pre-sentence report and the mitigating factors disclosed to this court. I note that the Probation Officer has suggested a probation sentence. In my view however, a non-custodial sentence is not appropriate herein. An innocent life has been lost and the matter proceeded to full trial.

3. I sentence the accused herein to five (5) years imprisonment. In this regard, I am aware that this is a 2017 case. It is so ordered.
