Statute overview

About this statute

This law takes effect on the date it is published. A party or coalition that seeks registration of an ineligible candidate may provide a substitute, even if the final decision came after the registration deadline. At the Superior Electoral Court, appeals about candidate registration must be processed and decided under the rules in articles 10 and 11 of this complementary law. Nas eleições municipais, o Juiz Eleitoral pode conhecer e processar a representação prevista nesta lei complementar, e também exercer as funções atribuídas ao Corregedor-Geral ou Regional. Eligibility and ineligibility are assessed when the candidacy registration is formalized, and the Electoral Justice may later recognize supervening facts or legal changes that remove ineligibility, including when its period ends, if they existed by the date of the diploma.
