Statute overview

About this statute

The public authorities and employers must protect domestic workers at work against abuse, harassment, discrimination, violence, and conditions like slavery. Esta lei entra em vigor na data de sua publicação. A worker identified as subjected to forced labor or a condition analogous to slavery, after labor inspection by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, must be rescued from that situation and is entitled to 6 unemployment insurance installments worth one minimum wage each. This article says the law sets measures to promote and protect the human rights of domestic workers. A labor inspector may enter the employer’s home only with authorization from the employer or, if the worker lives there, from the worker.
