Insurance Fees Regulation, M.R. 75/2010 The Insurance Act , C.C.S.M. c. I40 Regulation 75/2010 Registered June 29, 2010 bilingual version (HTML) Fees 1 The fees set out in the Schedule are payable by insurers and other persons for the licences, permits and services referred to in the Schedule. Repeal 2 The Insurance Fees Regulation , Manitoba Regulation 44/95, is repealed. Coming into force 3 This regulation comes into force on July 1, 2010, or on the day that it is registered under The Regulations Act , whichever is later. SCHEDULE (Section 1) PART 1 INSURERS 1(1) [Repealed] M.R. 217/2014. Licence fees for insurers 1(2) The fee for an initial licence or an annual licence renewal for a fraternal society (a) with no more than 500 members in the province is $215; or (b) with more than 500 members in the province is $430. 1(3) The fee for an initial licence or an annual licence renewal for a mutual insurance company (a) that is a provincial company is $405; or (b) that is not a provincial company, is the fee applicable to a non-mutual insurance company that transacts the same class of insurance. 1(4) The fee for an initial licence or an annual licence renewal for an insurer that is not mentioned in subsection (1), (2) or (3) and (a) that transacts life insurance but not accident and sickness insurance is $1,220; (b) that transacts life insurance and accident and sickness insurance is $1,590; (c) that transacts property insurance is $1,525; (d) [repealed] M.R. 217/2014; (e) that transacts hail insurance is $610; (f) that transacts one of the following classes of insurance is $925: (i) accident and sickness insurance, (ii) aircraft insurance, (iii) boiler and machinery insurance, (iv) credit insurance, (v) credit protection insurance, (vi) fidelity insurance, (vii) legal expense insurance, (viii) liability insurance, (ix) marine insurance, (x) mortgage insurance, (xi) other approved products insurance, (xii) surety insurance, (xiii) title insurance; (g) that transacts automobile insurance is $795; (h) [repealed] M.R. 217/2014; (i) that engages in reciprocal or inter-insurance exchange is $575; or (j) that undertakes reinsurance is $925. 1(5) If licence fees are payable by an insurer under two or more of clauses (4)⁠(c), (d), (e), (f), (g) and (h), it must pay (a) the highest of the individual licence fees that it is liable to pay under any of those clauses; and (b) one-half of the other licence fees that it is liable to pay under those clauses. 1(6) Despite subsection (5) and clauses (4)⁠(c), (d), (e), (f), (g) and (h), the maximum combined licence fee payable by an insurer for two or more of the classes mentioned in those clauses is $2,280. M.R. 217/2014 Licence fee for part of a year 2 The fee payable for an initial licence is reduced by ½ if the licence application is made after June 30 in any year. Inactive insurers 3 The fee for a limited licence to an insurer that has discontinued undertaking or renewing insurance contracts in Manitoba but continues to be liable under existing contracts is $70. Filing original licence documents 4 The fee for (a) examining documents required from an applicant for an initial licence as a fraternal society is $85; or (b) examining documents required from an applicant for an initial licence as an insurer (other than a fraternal society) or a reciprocal or inter-insurance exchange is $345. M.R. 217/2014 Filing an annual statement 5 The fee for filing an annual statement is $35. PART 2 MISCELLANEOUS 6 and 7 [Repealed] M.R. 217/2014 Special insurance brokers 8 The fee for a special insurance broker's licence, within the meaning of sections 89 and 381 to 384 of The Insurance Act , is $200. 9 and 10 [Repealed] M.R. 217/2014 Superintendent's certificate 11 The fee for a certificate of the superintendent is $25. Amendments to records 12 The fee for amending an insurer's licence during the licence year, or amending the superintendent's records as to the insurer's chief agent in Canada or Manitoba, the address of the insurer's head office or the insurer's classes of insurance, is $60. Certified copy of insurer's licence 13 The fee for a certified copy of an insurer's licence is $25. Service of documents 14 The annual fee payable by an insurer whose head office is outside Manitoba for the superintendent's maintenance of records about service of notice or process on the superintendent, as required by section 19 of The Insurance Act , is $60. Non-certified copies and extracts 15 The fee for a copy of or extract from a document filed with or by the superintendent is $0.60 per page.
