(«  Loi  ») "municipal purposes" means municipal purposes as defined in The Water Rights Act . (« fins municipales ») "R.M. of Maryfield" means the Rural Municipality of Maryfield, in Saskatchewan. (« M.R. de Maryfield ) "R.M. of Wallace" means the Rural Municipality of Wallace. (« M.R. de Wallace ») Background and purpose 2 The R.M. of Wallace borders the R.M. of Maryfield. Each municipality is entirely within the Hudson Bay drainage basin. The Village of Maryfield is a municipal corporation bounded on all sides by the R.M. of Maryfield. The Village of Maryfield's municipal water supply has become contaminated, and the R.M. of Wallace wishes to provide treated potable water, on a cost basis and not for profit, from its municipal water supply to the Village of Maryfield for its municipal purposes. The purpose of this regulation is to provide an exception to section 2 of the Act to ensure that this provision of water is in compliance with the Act. Exception from section 2 of the Act 3 Section 2 of the Act does not apply in respect of treated potable water provided by the R.M. of Wallace — from its municipal water supply as authorized by Licence No. 2004-083 as amended, issued under The Water Rights Act , or by any replacement licence issued under that Act — to the Village of Maryfield for its municipal purposes.
