Interpretation 2 In these regulations: (a) “Act” means The Wildlife Act, 1998; (b) “northern fur conservation area” means the area of provincial land constituted as the northern fur conservation area pursuant to subsections 55(1) and (1.1) of The Wildlife Regulations, 1981; (c) “protected area” means a protected area constituted pursuant to section 5 of The Parks Act; (d) “provincial park” means a provincial park constituted pursuant to section 4 of The Parks Act; (e) “recreation site” means a recreation site constituted pursuant to section 6 of The Parks Act; (f) “southern fur conservation area” means the area constituted as the southern fur conservation area pursuant to subsection 55(1.2) of The Wildlife Regulations, 1981; (g) “wildlife management zone” means a wildlife management zone constituted pursuant to section 3 of The Wildlife Management Zones and Special Areas Boundaries Regulations, 1990. 8 Apr 2011 cW-a13.12 Reg 4 s2; 7 Jly 2017 SR 74/2017 s3. References to dates 3 In these regulations, all references to dates are inclusive. 8 Apr 2011 cW-a13.12 Reg 4 s3. Fur animals 4 Subject to any restrictions on and conditions relating to hunting contained in the Act, in The Wildlife Regulations, 1981 or in any other regulations made pursuant to the Act it is lawful to hunt and take: (a) badger from November 1 in one year to April 15 in the following year; (b) black bear: (i) in the northern fur conservation area not including protected areas, provincial parks and recreation sites, from September 1 in one year to June 30 in the following year; (ii) in protected areas, provincial parks and recreation sites that are open for the hunting of black bear as specified in The Open Seasons Game Regulations, 2009, from September 10 in one year to May 31 in the following year; and 4 W-13.12 REG 4 FUR ANIMALS OPEN SEASONS (iii) in wildlife management zones in the southern fur conservation area not including protected areas, provincial parks and recreation sites that are open for the hunting of black bear as specified in The Open Seasons Game Regulations, 2009, from September 10 in one year to May 31 in the following year; (c) beaver from October 1 in one year to May 31 in the following year; (d) bobcat from October 15 in one year to March 15 in the following year; (d.1) cougar from October 15 in one year to March 15 in the following year; (e) coyote: (i) in the northern fur conservation area, from October 15 in one year to March 15 in the following year; and (ii) in the southern fur conservation area, throughout the year; (f) fisher from November 1 in one year to March 1 in the following year; (g) red fox from October 15 in one year to March 15 in the following year; (h) Arctic fox from October 15 in one year to March 15 in the following year; (i) lynx from November 1 in one year to March 1 in the following year; (j) marten from November 1 in one year to March 1 in the following year; (k) mink from November 1 in one year to March 1 in the following year; (l) muskrat from October 15 in one year to May 31 in the following year; (m) otter from November 1 in one year to April 30 in the following year; (n) squirrel from November 1 in one year to March 15 in the following year; (o) weasel from November 1 in one year to March 1 in the following year; (p) wolf from October 15 in one year to March 15 in the following year; and (q) wolverine from October 15 in one year to February 15 in the following year. 8 Apr 2011 cW-a13.12 Reg 4 s4; 7 Jly 2017 SR 74/2017 s4. Coming into force 6(1) Subject to subsection (2), these regulations come into force on July 1, 2011.
