1 SASKATCHEWAN-CHINA EXCHANGE OF SCHOLARS D-7.1 REG 5 The Saskatchewan-China Exchange of Scholars Regulations being Chapter D-7.1 Reg 5 (effective March 19, 1986). In order to preserve the integrity of the original statutes and regulations, errors that may have appeared are reproduced in this consolidation. 2 SASKATCHEWAN-CHINA D-7.1 REG 5 EXCHANGE OF SCHOLARS CHAPTER D-7.1 REG 5 The Department of Advanced Education and Manpower Act Title 1 These regulations may be cited as The Saskatchewan-China Exchange of Scholars Regulations. Interpretation 2 In these regulations: (a) “China” means the People’s Republic of China; (b) “educational exchange agreement” means an agreement entered into by the minister on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan and a province in China for the purpose of providing citizens of China with education or training opportunities in a post secondary institution; (c) “scholar” means a citizen of China: (i) who is studying in a post secondary institution; and (ii) whose name has been submitted to the minister; in accordance with the terms of an educational exchange agreement. 27 Mar 86 cD-7.1 Reg 5 s2. Grant 3(1) Subject to subsections (2) to (4), where the minister is satisfied that an education or training opportunity offered by a post secondary institution is of benefit to a scholar and Saskatchewan, he may make a grant: (a) on behalf of the scholar enrolled in a post secondary institution to the institution; or (b) to the scholar. (2) The maximum amount of a grant under clause (1)(a) is equal to the cost of tuition, fees, books, educational supplies and room and board charged by the post secondary educational institution to provide the education or training program for the scholar. (3) The maximum amount of a grant under clause (1)(b) is equal to the cost of providing room and board not otherwise provided by the post secondary institution to the scholar while he is enrolled in the education or training program. (4) Where English as a second language training is considered necessary by the post secondary institution where the student is enrolled, no grant is payable to the scholar or on behalf of the scholar to the post secondary institution with respect to that training. 27 Mar 86 cD-7.1 Reg 5 s3.
