Prospective jurors – French trials 2(1) The Inspector of Court Offices may compile a list of names and addresses of persons in a particular judicial centre who understand French and may use that list as a source for names and addresses of prospective jurors when a trial is to be held in French. (2) In compiling the list, the Inspector of Court Offices may obtain names and addresses of prospective jurors from any department or agency of the Government of Canada or the Government of Saskatchewan or any person, association, organization or institution that has available to it the names and addresses of persons in Saskatchewan who understand French. 28 Jan 2000 cJ-4.2 Reg 1 s2; 12 Jly 2019 SR 49/2019 s3. Fees payable 3(1) Subject to subsection (2), the fee payable to a person who is sworn to serve as a juror in a civil or criminal proceeding is $110 for each day or part of a day that the person serves as a juror. (2) No fee is payable to a person serving as a juror if that person is receiving income from his or her employer while serving as a juror. 12 Jly 2019 SR 49/2019 s4. Expenses payable 4(1) A juror or prospective juror is entitled to be paid the following for his or her travel expenses that the sheriff considers reasonable: (a) where he or she uses a private vehicle, at the rate established for travel expenses incurred by members of the public service when using a private vehicle; (b) where he or she uses public transportation, at the rate established for travel expenses incurred by members of the public service when using public transportation. (2) A juror or prospective juror is entitled to be paid for his or her accommodation expenses that the sheriff considers reasonable at a rate equal to the rate established for accommodation expenses incurred by members of the public service. (3) A juror or prospective juror is entitled to be paid for his or her actual meal expenses that the sheriff considers reasonable. (4) A juror or prospective juror is entitled to be paid for his or her actual parking expenses that the sheriff considers reasonable. 4 J-4.2 REG 1 JURY (5) A juror or prospective juror may be paid for his or her actual parking ticket expenses incurred in necessary and unavoidable circumstances related to the performance of his or her duties and that the sheriff considers reasonable. (6) Subject to subsection (7), a juror or prospective juror is entitled to be paid the following for his or her child care and other dependant care expenses that the sheriff considers reasonable: (a) for each dependant under the age of 12 years old for whom the juror or prospective juror incurs new child care expenses as a result of jury selection or service, actual child care expenses to a maximum of $40 per day; (b) for each dependant with a disability or infirmity for whom the juror or prospective juror incurs new home care or other dependant care expenses as a result of jury selection or service, actual home care or other dependant care expenses to a maximum of $80 per day.
