In order to preserve the integrity of the original statutes and regulations, errors that may have appeared are reproduced in this consolidation. 2 c P-29.1 PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS MONTH CHAPTER P-29.1 An Act to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer in Saskatchewan Preamble WHEREAS prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men and the third most common cause of cancer death in men; WHEREAS a Canadian man has a 1 in 7 chance of developing prostate cancer in his lifetime; WHEREAS an estimated 20,500 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in Canada in 2005 and an estimated 4,300 will die from the disease; WHEREAS in Saskatchewan, an estimated 840 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005 and an estimated 250 men will die of the disease; WHEREAS early detection and advances in treatment can save more lives each year; WHEREAS the Canadian Cancer Society in Saskatchewan has declared September to be Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows: Short title 1 The Prostate Cancer Awareness Month Act.
