Interpretation 2 In this Act: (a) “board of education” means a board of education as defined in The Education Act, 1995; (b) “commission” means The Teachers’ Superannuation Commission continued under The Teachers Superannuation and Disability Benefits Act; (b.1) “conseil scolaire” means the conseil scolaire as defined in The Education Act, 1995; (c) “dental plan” means the dental plan established pursuant to section 3; (d) “federation” means the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation continued under The Teachers’ Federation Act; (e) “minister” means the member of the Executive Council to whom for the time being the administration of this Act is assigned; (e.1) “SDLC” means the SDLC as defined in The Education Act, 1995; (f) “teacher” means a teacher as defined in The Education Act, 1995 who has entered into a contract of employment with: (i) a board of education, the conseil scolaire or the SDLC pursuant to section 200 of that Act; or (ii) a school where: (A) the school receives operating funding, directly or indirectly, from the ministry over which the minister responsible for the administration of The Education Act, 1995 presides; (B) the school is a registered independent school or is otherwise recognized by the ministry over which the minister responsible for the administration of The Education Act, 1995 presides; and (C) all teachers employed by the school are members of the federation but do not belong to any trade union and are not covered by any collective bargaining agreement other than one negotiated pursuant to The Education Act, 1995; (g) “teaching service” means the performance of the duties assigned to a teacher by the board of education, the conseil scolaire, the SDLC or the the school mentioned in subclause (f)(ii) that employs the teacher. 1984‑85‑86, c T‑6.1, s 2; 1988‑89, c 33, s 3; 1993, c 55, s 190; 1998, c 37, s 3; 2001, c 44, s 3; 2019, c 25, s 34; 2023, c24, s 5. 4 c T-6.1 TEACHERS’ DENTAL PLAN Dental plan established 3 A dental plan for teachers is hereby established. 1984‑85‑86, c T‑6.1, s 3. Eligibility 4(1) Subject to subsection (3), all teachers who have completed 20 full or partial days of teaching service are eligible for coverage under the dental plan that is retroactive to the first day of teaching service. (2) Repealed. 2001, c 44, s 4. (3) All teachers who are receiving: (a) a benefit on the grounds of disability in accordance with The Teachers Superannuation and Disability Benefits Act; or (b) payments from a disability income plan entered into on behalf of the teacher by the federation; are eligible for coverage under the dental plan. 1984‑85‑86, c T‑6.1, s 4; 1988‑89, c 33, s 4; 1998, c 37, s 4; 2001, c 44, s 4. Administration 5 The commission shall administer and manage the dental plan and, for that purpose: (a) may create and maintain any records, data and other documents that, in its opinion, may be required for the administration and management of the dental plan; and (b) shall perform any other duties with respect to the dental plan that may be prescribed in the regulations. 1984‑85‑86, c T‑6.1, s 5. Insurance agreement 6 The Lieutenant Governor in Council may authorize the Minister of Finance or the minister to enter into an agreement, with the approval of the federation, with one or more insurance companies to provide for the dental plan with respect to all teachers who are eligible for coverage under the dental plan in accordance with this Act. 1984‑85‑86, c T‑6.1, s 6. 5 TEACHERS’ DENTAL PLAN c T-6.1 Payment of premium 7 The Minister of Finance shall pay all of the costs associated with the dental plan provided pursuant to the agreement entered into under section 6. 1984‑85‑86, c T‑6.1, s 7; 1986, c 10, s 2.
