Statute overview

About this statute

This provision makes the consumer credit law apply in Greenland and sets key definitions, scope rules, and general non-derogation rules. The creditor must try to recover the debt by taking back the sold item, and may only attach the consumer’s other assets in limited cases. The consumer may waive certain repossession rights, may redeem repossessed items within 14 days, and cannot take back an item whose separation would substantially reduce its value. The creditor must make a repossession request in writing with supporting documents, and the district court may require the original document or a written copy.
