Statute overview

About this statute

Banco de España must align the service fees and commissions it charges in direct public dealings with the rates approved by the Ministry of Finance for equivalent general banking operations. Bank rules for general mercantile companies also apply to banks, unless they conflict with this law or the special rules governing banks. La banca española debe ajustar su ejercicio económico al año natural; los bancos con determinadas formas societarias deben tener acciones nominativas; y, si hace falta por este artículo, sus estatutos deben reformarse e implantarse antes del 1 de enero de 1948. This article is repealed. Registered banks and bankers are entitled to participate in agreed facilities and benefits on crossed and traveller’s cheques and related stamp tax matters. The Government may also exempt certain crossed payment orders from state stamp duty and exempt certain bill-of-exchange acceptance acts from that duty if payment is made by set-off under the stated rules.
