Statute overview

About this statute

Notaries and property/commercial registrars must report certain suspicious money-laundering-related acts in writing and keep the reporting confidential. For unusual or unknown customers, extra care must be taken, and higher-value transactions are to be limited to those above the stated monetary thresholds. Notaries and property/mercantile registrars must report in writing to the executive anti-money-laundering service about contracts or acts they learn of in their work that may indicate money laundering. No se puede revelar a clientes ni a terceros que se ha transmitido información al Servicio Ejecutivo de la Comisión de Prevención del Blanqueo de Capitales e Infracciones Monetarias. A communication must be sent within five business days after authorization or registration, and the authority may request additional deed or registration evidence from the notary or registrar.
