Statute overview

About this statute

Los poderes públicos vascos must provide mandatory training on gender equality and gender perspective for all staff, and must add related content to selection and promotion processes. Basque public authorities must actively consider equality between women and men in policymaking and administration, and use inclusive, non-sexist language and images. Certain public administrations and public-sector bodies must organize equality units and staff them with enough resources. The regional administration must organize its departments so each has at least one equality unit, and public bodies with more than 50 employees must also have such units. This article creates an interinstitutional commission on equality for women and men, chaired by the Director of Emakunde and attached to Emakunde-Instituto Vasco de la Mujer.
