Statute overview

About this statute

A meat buyer who keeps accounts must pay the production subsidy to the producer at settlement for eligible beef or lamb purchased directly from the producer. The authority may decide to pay the subsidy directly to the producer if the producer applies. Meat production subsidy may be paid only if the sale is in writing and the purchase and settlement documents show all items set by the Agriculture Board. The agricultural board pays the meat buyer monthly after receiving a required report; it may also pay an advance under set conditions. If the agricultural board pays the production subsidy directly to the producer, the producer must apply on the board’s approved form and attach the reports the board requires. If a buyer has received production bonus funds improperly or in excess, recovery is handled under another specified law.
