Statute overview

About this statute

Toys must not contain the allergenic fragrance substances listed in Annex I. Names of certain allergenic fragrance substances listed in Annex II must be shown on the toy, its label, packaging, or accompanying instructions when they are used above 100 milligrams per kilogram. Certain fragrance substances may be used in fragrance games, cosmetic experiment kits, and tasting games only if the packaging, warning, child-made product limits, and food-safety requirements are met. Using the substances and mixtures listed in Annex III is prohibited in toys if their transfer exceeds the limit values in the annex. This provision says the regulation enters into force on 20 July 2013.
