Statute overview

About this statute

The E-value for a building or part of a building in an energy certificate is calculated according to Annex 1. Building and building-part E-values must be calculated using either the monthly calculation method or the dynamic calculation method. Energy certificates use building-specific energy efficiency class scales and A–G labels; in certain simplified certificates, a public sale or rental notice uses H instead of the usual energy-efficiency symbol. The energy certificate preparer must assess the building’s parts and technical systems, find cost-effective energy-saving opportunities, and include recommendations that cover major-renovation measures, individual-part measures, and an estimate of energy savings and the impact on the E-value. The energy certificate may include extra information about maintenance and use factors that affect a building’s energy or environmental performance, and it must state where the owner or tenant can get more detailed information.
