About this statute

This section creates the Northern Development Authority and gives it powers to hold, dispose of, and contract over property. The Authority’s objects are to promote development in the Northern Development Zone, mobilise resources and investment, coordinate development activities, and support gender equality and vulnerable groups. The Authority must carry out the listed development, coordination, financing, and monitoring functions for the Northern Development Zone. The President appoints the Board members, and must consider fair representation in the Northern Development Zone when doing so. The Board must direct, manage, oversee, approve, review, and improve the Authority’s operations and policies, and it is responsible to the Minister.
