Statute overview

About this statute

A person must not import, export, manufacture, distribute, advertise, sell, or use a pesticide in Ghana unless the pesticide has been registered by the Environmental Protection Agency under this Act. The Agency may allow unregistered pesticide to be imported in limited cases, and may also allow manufacture for export if specified conditions are met. A person seeking to register a pesticide must submit an application to the Agency. When a pesticide is being registered, the Agency must classify it as general use, restricted use, suspended, or banned. The Agency may classify a pesticide as for general use if it considers the pesticide will not have an unreasonable adverse effect on the environment, taking section 7 into account.
