Statute overview

About this statute

The President must appoint a Law Revision Commissioner, after consulting the Council of State and the Minister for Justice, to prepare a revised edition of listed laws. If the Commissioner cannot perform the functions for a reasonable and just cause, the President may appoint another qualified person during the absence. The Commissioner has powers and duties for preparing the Revised Edition, including omitting certain obsolete material, making conformity changes, rearranging Acts, and correcting errors. The Commissioner cannot alter the substance of an Act, but must prepare a Bill if changes are desirable or substantial recasting is needed. The Commissioner may exclude certain Acts from the Revised Edition if he considers it appropriate. If a chart, map, or plan annexed to an Act is omitted from the Revised Edition, the Commissioner must deposit an authenticated copy with the appropriate authority for inspection.
