People who were already citizens of Ghana by law when the Constitution came into force continue to be citizens of Ghana. This section says the law on Ghanaian citizenship by birth is restated in this Part for easier reference. A person born before 6 March 1957 is a citizen of Ghana by birth if the stated parent or grandparent birth conditions are met. This section says when a person born between 6 March 1957 and 22 August 1969 is a citizen of Ghana by birth, based on where they and their parents or grandparents were born or held citizenship. A person is a citizen of Ghana by birth if they were born within the stated dates and at least one parent was a citizen of Ghana at the time of birth.
