About this statute

This section establishes the University of Education, Winneba as a body corporate with perpetual succession and allows it to sue and be sued in its own name. The Council may acquire, hold, sell, lease, mortgage, or otherwise dispose of property, and may acquire property or a right over land if the Council and Government agree it is necessary for this Act. The University must award its own degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The University’s aims include providing higher education, training teachers, supporting research and learning, and building links with schools and education bodies. The University must have campuses at Kumasi and Ashanti Mampong, and the University Council may establish other campuses.
