About this statute
Certain people may not join or help others join another country’s military without the President’s written permission; doing so is a first degree felony. A person may not leave Ghana or board a vessel, vehicle, or aircraft to take foreign military service without the President’s written permission. It is a first degree felony for a person to induce someone to leave the Republic or board a vessel, vehicle, or aircraft in the Republic by misrepresenting the service they will do, if the aim is to get them to accept military service with another country. A person in charge of a vessel, vehicle, or aircraft must not knowingly take on board certain illegally enlisted persons without the President’s written permission. An offence under this Act may be described in an indictment or related document as having been committed where it happened, either wholly or partly, or within the court’s jurisdiction.
