Statute overview

About this statute

The President may appoint officers for the Act’s purposes, but only in line with the Forestry Commission’s advice and after consultation with the Public Services Commission. The Minister may permit the collection of certain animal specimens for museums, zoological gardens, or other scientific purposes. The Minister may, after recommendations from the Forestry Commission, use a legislative instrument to change which animal names appear in the Act’s Schedules and to apply that instrument across Ghana or part of Ghana. Trophies may not be exported or imported except under stated certificate and Customs-station conditions. Ivory trophies exported under section 4 must be marked and their marks and weight recorded in the export certificate; other trophies should be marked and recorded if possible, and must always be described in the certificate as specifically as possible.
