BOROUGH OF GALWAY (ALTERATION OF BOUNDARY) (CONSEQUENTIAL PROVISIONS) ORDER, 1985. The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 19 (1) ( ) of the Local Government (Reorganisation) Act, 1985 (No. 7 of 1985), hereby orders as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Borough of Galway (Alteration of Boundary) (Consequential Provisions) Order, 1985. 2. In this Order— "the Act of 1985" means the Local Government (Reorganisation) Act, 1985 "the Borough" means the Borough of Galway as established by the Local Government (Galway) Act, 1937 "the added area" means the area described in the Fourth Schedule to the Act of 1985. 3. So much of the register of electors as, immediately before the 4th day of April, 1985, was in force for the County of Galway as regards the added area, shall be deemed to form part of the register of electors in force for the Borough and shall, for the purposes of the local elections next occurring after the date of this Order for the Council of the said County, cease to form part of the register of electors for the County and persons registered as local government electors in respect of the added area shall not be entitled to vote at the said elections for the said Council. 4. (1) Where immediately before the 4th day of April, 1985 a polling district is situated partly within the added area, the Secretary of Galway County Council shall, with respect to each part of such polling district— ) join it, or parts of it, with any adjoining polling district or districts; or ) constitute it as a polling district and appoint a polling place for it. (2) An arrangement made pursuant to paragraph ( ) or paragraph ( ) of sub-article (1) of this article shall have effect until and only until it is replaced by a scheme or schemes under section 22 of the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963).
