The Minister for Social Protection, DARA CALLEARY, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 (2) of the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 (No. 20 of 2024), hereby orders as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2025. 2. The Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2024 ( S.I. No. 500 of 2024 ) is amended- (a) by the substitution of the following Article for Article 3: “3. The 30th day of September 2025 is appointed as the day on which Chapters 1 and 4 of Part 3 of the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 shall come into operation.”, and (b) by the insertion of the following Article after Article 3: “4. The 1st day of January 2026 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings System Act 2024 shall come into operation: (a) Chapters 2 and 3 of Part 3; (b) Part 4; (c) Part 5; (d) Part 8; (e) Part 9.”. EXPLANATORY NOTE This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation. On 29 April 2025 the Minister for Social Protection announced that the collection of contributions for the Automatic Enrolment retirement savings system called My Future Fund would begin from 1st January 2026. It had previously been planned to begin contributions from 30th September 2025. This order provides for the formal adjustment of the intended commencement dates. For operational reasons Chapters 1 and 4 of Part 3 of the Act will still be commenced on 30 September 2025. The commencement of the foregoing provisions is necessary to allow for the rolling-out of the electronic portal under which employers will be eligible to register their contact details etc with the Authority.
