No. 587/2025 - European Union (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2025 Download PDF Íoslódáil PDF Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of th December, 2025. section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 , as amended by Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/782 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 March 2024 and Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2025/1223 of 10 April 2025 , hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2025. 2. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the European Union (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) Regulations 2017 ( S.I. No. 8 of 2017 ). 3. The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as European Union (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) Regulations 2017 to 2025. 4. Regulation 3(1) of the Principal Regulations is amended by the substitution of the following definition for the definition of “Directive”: “Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 as amended by Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2016/790 of 13 January 2016 , Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2017/2113 of 11 September 2017 , Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2019/608 of 16 January 2019 , Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2020/548 of 23 January 2020 , Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2021/2183 of 25 August 2021 , Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2023/2383 of 23 May 2023 10 , Directive (EU) 2024/505 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 February 2024 11 , Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/782 of 4 March 2024 12 , Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/1395 of 5 March 2024 13 , and Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2025/1223 of 10 April 2025 14 ” for “and Commission Delegated Decision (EU) 2016/790 of 13 January 2016 15 5. The Principal Regulations are amended by the substitution of Schedules 1,2 and 3 for the Schedules as laid out in the Schedule to these Regulations. A. These Regulations give effect to Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2024/782 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 March 2024, amending Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the minimum training requirements for the professions of nurse responsible for general care, dental practitioner and pharmacist and Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2025/1223 of 10 April 2025 as regards the minimum training requirements for the profession of veterinary surgeon.
