S.I. No. 351/1983 - Weights and Measures (Verification and Stamping Fees) Order, 1983. S.I. No. 351 of 1983. WEIGHTS AND MEASURES (VERIFICATION AND STAMPING FEES) ORDER, 1983. The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 9 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1904, hereby order as follows: 1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Verification and Stamping Fees) Order, 1983. (2) This Order shall come into operation on the 25th day of November, 1983. 2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. 3. The fees specified in the Schedule to this Order shall be paid in respect of the verification and stamping of the weights, measures and weighing and measuring instruments specified in that Schedule. 4. The Weights and Measures (Verification and Stamping Fees) Order, 1981 (S.I. No. 351 of 1981), is hereby revoked. A. WEIGHTS (1) Metric 50 kilograms and over 0.48 1 kilogram to under 50 kilograms 0.36 50 grams to under 1 kilogram 0.30 under 50 grams 0.18 (2) Imperial 112 pounds and over 0.48 14 pounds to under 112 pounds 0.36 1 pound to under 14 pounds 0.30 under 1 pound 0.18 B. MEASURES (1) Linear Measures ( a ) Metric 10 metres and over 0.36 1 metre to under 10 metres 0.30 under 1 metre 0.18 ( b ) Imperial 10 yards and over 0.36 1 yard to under 10 yards 0.30 under 1 yard 0.18 (2) Capacity Measures (not being bottles of a size for the time being prescribed under section 9 of the Intoxicating Liquor (General) Act, 1924 (No. 62 of 1924), for the sale of intoxicating liquor or any particular kind of intoxicating liquor in bottles). ( a ) Metric over 25 litres 1.20 over 5 litres to 25 litres 0.60 over 500 millilitres to 5 litres 0.48 500 millilitres and under 0.07 ( b ) Imperial over 5 gallons 1.20 over 1 gallon to 5 gallons 0.60 over 1 pint to 1 gallon 0.48 1 pint and under 0.07 (double fees for subdivided measures) C. MEASURING INSTRUMENTS (1) Road Tankers Diprods (per set) for tanks of 2,500 litres or upwards 36.00 Diprods (per set) for tanks over 1,000 litres and under 2,500 litres 27.00 Diprods (per set) for tanks of 1,000 litres and under 13.50 (2) Meters for measurement of oil, petrol and kindred liquids Inlet or outlet exceeding 3.8 cm (1½") in diameter 27.00 Inlet or outlet not exceeding 3.8 cm (1½") in diameter 13.50 1. On the verification and stamping of an imperial weighing or measuring instrument, the fee shall be that which is prescribed in this Schedule with respect to the equivalent in metric capacity unless a separate fee is specified in the Schedule. 2. Where any instrument has two sets of graduations of different form, double the appropriate fee shall be payable. 3. Where, in a weighing instrument, two weigh tables or platforms are connected to one steelyard or office mechanism, two separate fees, in accordance with the capacities of the respective weigh tables or platforms are payable. 4. In the case of a weighing or measuring instrument constructed also to calculate and indicate the price in money an additional fee is payable for the examination of the price indicating mechanism equal in amount to that charged on the weighing or measuring instrument. 5. Where in an examination for verification and stamping of weights and measures and weighing and measuring instruments, such weights, measures or instruments are found to be defective and are rejected, a fee shall be payable equal in amount to that chargeable had such weight, measure or instrument been found free of defect. 6. Where any weighing or measuring instrument is required by the Weights and Measures (General) Regulations, 1928, to be verified in situ or where an application for the verification in situ of a weighing or measuring instrument which is not required by the said regulations to be so verified is granted by the Minister, the appropriate fee under this Order shall be payable in addition to the cost of transport of the required standards and the travelling expenses of the inspector between the nearest Weights and Measures Office and the place at which the verification is made.
