The National Rural Employment Guarantee (Extension to Jammu and Kashmir) Act, 2007

--- Section 1. Section 1.Short title and commencement. --- (1) This Act maybe called the National Rural Employment Guarantee (Extension to Jammu and Kashmir) Act, 2007. (2) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different areas in the State and any reference to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that Act in such areas. Section 2.Extension and amendment of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005. --- (1) The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (42 of 2005) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act) and all rules, orders and schemes made thereunder by the Central Government are hereby extended to, and shall be in force in, the State of Jammu and Kashmir*. (2) With effect from the date of commencement of this Act, in the principal Act, in sub-section (2) of section 1, the words "except the State of Jammu and Kashmir*" shall be omitted. [Footnotes] *. Vide notification No. S.O. 3912(E), dated 30th October, 2019, this Act is made applicable to the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union territory of Ladakh. --- Section 3. Section 3.Construction of reference to a law not in force in Jammu and Kashmir. --- Any reference in any Act mentioned in the principal Act to a law which is not in force in the State of Jammu and Kashmir* shall, in relation to that State, be construed as a reference to the corresponding law, if any, in force in that State.
