( Received the assent of the President on the 10th August 1960 ) ASSAM ACT No.XXVII OF 1960 THE ASSAM FIXATION OF CEILING ON LAND HOLDINGS (AMENDMENT) ACT', 1959 (As passed by the Assembly) [Published in the Assam Gazette, Extraordinary, dated the 17ih August 1960] An Act further to amend the Assam Fixation of Ceiling on Assam Act Land Holdings Act, 1956 I ot D57. Preamble. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Asturfi Act Assam Fixation of Ceiling on land ^Holdings Act, 1 of ,95^- 1956, hereinafter called the Principal Act, in the man­ ner hereinafter appearing ; 2 It is hereby enacted in the Eleventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:— Short title (0 This Act mav be called the A>sam Fixation extent and °f Ceiling on Laud H.idings (Amendment) Act, I960, comtnetice- (2) It shall have the like extent as the Principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. Amendment 2. In section 3 of the Principal Act, the following »f section 1 shall be substituted foi clause ( /), namely; •• of Assam , ' Act 1 of 1957. “(j) ‘person* includes a family, a comp mv and a body corpotate ; ” Amendment 3. In subsection (1) of section 4 of the Principal of sect ion 4 Act, the following commas and the words shall he of A®8™, omitted, namely 1— Act I of ’ 1957. either by himself or through any member of his family,”. In section 5 of the Principal Act, the following of section 5 words and the comma shall be omitted, namely:—- of Assam Act I of 1957, “either by himself or through any member of his fa mily,**. Amendment 5, In sub-section (I) of section 7 of the Principal °J section 7 ^ct, the following words shall be omitted, namely ;—- Act I of B57, “on their own behalf and on behalf of their family”, Amendment 6. In section 16 of the Principal Act, in sub-section of section H (2) the “full stop” at the end shall be deleted and I of P957. Ct ^le following shall be added, namely:— “ , on the same rate of revenue or rent for such class of land in the neighbourhood.” Amendment 7. In sub-section (1) of section 19 of the Principal of station .19 Act, the following words and commas shall be omitted, of Assam Ac* namely I of 1957® * “ , either by himself, or through any member of his family,” and “or any member of his family,’*. 3 Amendment 8. In section 20 of the Principal Act, in sub-section of section 20 the following words shall be omitted, namely: — oi Assam Act “either by himself or through any member of his family”. Amendment 9. In sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Principe 1 otsection 22 Act, the following words and commas shall be omittec, of Assam Act namelv :— I of 1957. 7 “either by himself or through any member of his family,” and “or any member of his family,”.
