Jersey Law 2/1980 BIRTH CERTIFICATE (SHORTENED FORM) (JERSEY) LAW, 1979. ____________ A LAW to make new provision for an additional type of birth certificate, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the 19th day of DECEMBER, 1979. ____________ (Registered on the 18th day of January, 1980) . ____________ STATES OF JERSEY . ____________ The 24th day of April, 1979. ____________ T HE STATES , subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law: - ARTICLE 1 INTERPRETATION In this Law – “Committee” means the Etat Civil Committee; “prescribed” means prescribed by order made by the Committee under this Law; “Superintendent Registrar” and “Registrar” means respectively the Superintendent Registrar, and a Registrar of births, marriages and deaths, appointed in pursuance of the “ Loi (1842) sur l’Etat Civil”, 1 as amended. 2 ARTICLE 2 SHORTENED FORM OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE (1) Any person shall, on payment of the prescribed fee and on furnishing the prescribed particulars, be entitled to obtain from the Superintendent Registrar or a Registrar a certificate in the prescribed form of the birth of any person compiled from the records and registers in the custody of the Superintendent Registrar or from the registers in the custody of that Registrar, as the case may be. (2) The Committee may by order prescribe anything which may be prescribed under this Law and may make orders generally for carrying this Law into effect, so however that no such order shall require that any certificate issued under this Article shall contain any particulars relating to parentage or adoption. (3) The Subordinate Legislation (Jersey) Law, 1960, 3 shall apply to orders made under this Law. ARTICLE 3 CITATION, REPEAL AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Law may be cited as the Birth Certificate (Shortened Form) (Jersey) Law, 1979. (2) The Birth Certificate (Shortened Form) (Jersey) Law, 1950 4 is hereby repealed. (3) This Law shall come into force forthwith for the purpose of making orders thereunder , and, for all other purposes, on the date on which the first such order comes into force. R.S.
