Jersey Law 5/1972 INSULAR INSURANCE (AMENDMENT No. 18) (JERSEY) LAW, 1972. ____________ A LAW to amend further the Insular Insurance (Jersey) Law, 1950, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the 4th day of FEBRUARY, 1972. ____________ (Registered on the 17th day of March, 1972). ____________ STATES OF JERSEY. ____________ The 19th day of October, 1971. ____________ T HE STATES , subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law: - ARTICLE 1 In paragraph (5) of Article 5 of the Insular Insurance (Jersey) Law, 1950, 1 as amended 2 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”) for the words “ten pounds” there shall be substituted the words “fifty pounds”. ARTICLE 2 (1) For sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (1) of Article 20 of the principal Law there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph – “(c) in the case of a widow’s pension, if (subject to the provisions of Article 21 of this Law) at the husband’s death she was over the age of forty but under the pensionable age.”. (2) For Article 21 of the principal Law there shall be substituted the following Article – “ARTICLE 21 WIDOW’S PENSIONS IN SPECIAL CASES (1) Where a widow who is not over the age of forty at her husband’s death ceases to be entitled to a widowed mother’s allowance at a time when she is over the age of forty but under pensionable age she shall for any subsequent period have the same right (if any) to a widow’s pension in respect of that marriage as if she had attained the age of forty before her husband’s death. (2) A widow who immediately before the coming into force of this Law was entitled to a widow’s pension by reason of her infirmity shall for any subsequent period whether she remains infirm or recovers have the same right (if any) to a widow’s pension as if she had attained the age of forty before the husband’s death.”. ARTICLE 3 This Law may be cited as the Insular Insurance (Amendment No. 18) (Jersey) Law, 1972, and this Law and the Insular Insurance (Jersey) Laws, 1950 to 1971 may be cited together as the Insular Insurance (Jersey) Laws, 1950 to 1972.
