Jersey Law 7/1960 RESTRICTION OF OFFENSIVE WEAPONS (JERSEY) LAW, 1960. ____________ A LAW to prohibit the manufacture, disposal and importation of flick knives and other dangerous weapons, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the 11th day of MAY, 1960. ____________ (Registered on the 4th day of June, 1960). ____________ STATES OF JERSEY. ____________ The 16th day of February, 1960. ____________ T HE STATES , subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law: - ARTICLE 1 PENALTIES FOR OFFENCES IN CONNEXION WITH DANGEROUS WEAPONS Any person who manufactures, sells or hires or offers for sale or hire [or exposes or has in his possession for the purpose of sale or hire] 1 or lends or gives to any other person, or imports into the Island – (a) any knife which has a blade which opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife, sometimes known as a “flick knife” or “flick gun”; or (b) any knife which has a blade which is released from the handle or sheath thereof by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force and which, when released, is locked in place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other device, sometimes known as a “gravity knife”; shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable in the case of a first offence to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to a fine not exceeding fifty pounds or to both such imprisonment and such fine, and in the case of a second or subsequent offence to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding two hundred pounds or to both such imprisonment and such fine, and in every case the knife in respect of which the offence is committed shall be forfeited and shall become the property of the States. ARTICLE 2 SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Law may be cited as the Restriction of Offensive Weapons (Jersey) Law, 1960.
