Jersey Law 11/1965 PARISH OF SAINT LAWRENCE (DIVISION OF VINGTAINE) (JERSEY) LAW, 1965. ____________ A LAW to provide for the division of the “Vingtaine de la Vallée” in the parish of Saint Lawrence into two separate Vingtaines, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the 24th day of JUNE, 1965. ____________ ( Registered on the 20 th day of August , 1965). ____________ STATES OF JERSEY. ____________ The 9th day of February, 1965. ____________ W HEREAS the population of the “Vingtaine de La Vallée” in the parish of Saint Lawrence has increased to such an extent that the administration of the Vingtaine has become extremely difficult ; AND WHEREAS the division of the “Vingtaine de La Vallée” into two separate Vingtaines would render the administration thereof more efficient ; T HE STATES, subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law : - ARTICLE 1 The “Vingtaine de La Vallée” in the parish of Saint Lawrence shall be divided into two separate Vingtaines to be known as the “Vingtaine du Haut de La Vallée” and the “Vingtaine du Bas de La Vallée”. ARTICLE 2 (1) The “Vingtaine du Haut de La Vallée” shall comprise that part of the “Vingtaine de La Vallée” to the north and east of St. Aubin’s Road, Rue de Haut, La Ruelle Corbel and St. Peter’s Valley. (2) The “Vingtaine du Bas de La Vallée” shall comprise that part of the “Vingtaine de La Vallée” to the south and west of the roads mentioned in paragraph (1) of this Article, and those roads shall be deemed to be in the “Vingtaine du Bas de La Vallée”. ARTICLE 3 (1) A Vingtenier and two Roads Inspectors shall be elected for each new Vingtaine in manner prescribed by law. (2) A Vingtenier or Roads Inspector elected in pursuance of paragraph (1) of this Article shall – ( a ) hold office for the same period of time; ( b ) have the same rights and perform the same duties ; as any other Vingtenier or Roads Inspector. ARTICLE 4 For the sixth paragraph of Article 4 of the “Règlement relatif au nombre des Centeniers de St. Hélier et de St. Martin, et à l’augmentation des pouvoirs des Officiers de Police, etc., confirmé par Ordre de Sa Majesté en Conseil, en date du 29 décembre 1853,” 1 (which paragraph relates to the number of Constable’s Officers for the parish of Saint Lawrence) there shall be substituted the following paragraph – “A St. Laurens: ceux du Haut de La Vallée, trois; du Bas de La Vallée, trois; du Coin Motier, trois; du Coin Hâtain, deux ; du Coin Tourgis Nord, deux; et du Coin Tourgis Sud, deux.” ARTICLE 5 This Law may be cited as the Parish of Saint Lawrence (Division of Vingtaine) (Jersey) Law, 1965.
