Jersey Law 13/1995 CHEQUES (AMENDMENT) (JERSEY) LAW 1995 ____________ A LAW to amend the Cheques (Jersey) Law 1957, sanctioned by Order of Her Majesty in Council of the 8th day of FEBRUARY 1995 ____________ (Registered on the 21st day of April 1995) ____________ STATES OF JERSEY ____________ The 27th day of September 1994 ____________ T HE STATES , subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty in Council, have adopted the following Law – ARTICLE 1 After Article 3 of the Cheques (Jersey) Law 1957 1 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”) there shall be inserted the following Article – “ARTICLE 3A Non-transferable cheques Where a cheque is crossed and bears across its face the words ‘account payee’ or ‘a/c payee’, either with or without the word ‘only’, the cheque shall not be transferable, but shall only be valid as between the parties thereto.”. ARTICLE 2 In sub-paragraph (a) of paragraph (2) of Article 4 of the principal Law after the word “cheques” there shall be inserted the words “(including cheques which under Article 3A of this Law or otherwise are not transferable)”. ARTICLE 3 This Law may be cited as the Cheques (Amendment) (Jersey) Law 1995 and shall come into force on such day as the States may by Act appoint. C.M.
