About this statute

These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Aviation (Aeronautical Search and Rescue) Regulations. Section 2. Interpretation Section being in the aircraft; or The Regulations apply to all aircraft needing aeronautical search and rescue services and to persons or organisations responsible for maintaining and operating those services in Kenya and in areas over the high seas for which Kenya has responsibility under the regional air navigation plan. Requires Aeronautical Search and Rescue units and aircraft to have specified equipment and communications for locating survivors, assisting at accident scenes, and, over maritime areas, communicating with vessels and carrying survival equipment and the International Code of Signals. Designates the Director of Air Navigation Services as the Aeronautical Search and Rescue agency and sets responsibilities for coordinating, resourcing, cooperating and assisting aircraft and survivors regardless of nationality.
