About this statute

These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Aviation (Operation of Aircraft-Helicopter) Regulations, 2018. Defines "Take-off alternate" as an alternate heliport where a helicopter can land shortly after take-off if the departure heliport cannot be used. Operators must ensure pilots and flight crew are familiar with relevant laws and procedures; operators or designated representatives hold operational control; flight operations officers and pilots-in-command must notify authorities in emergencies and report violations (reports normally within ten days); operators must provide SAR info onboard and ensure crew radiotelephony language ability. The Authority must immediately notify a foreign operator when it identifies non-compliance or a serious safety issue, and must notify relevant States and consult with them where applicable. Operators must not operate certain large or outfitted helicopters with a flight data recorder unless they have an authority‑acceptable flight data analysis programme; operators may contract analysis (with Authority approval) but must retain responsibility; operators must establish an Authority‑acceptable flight safety documents system; no person may carry dangerous goods on a helicopter unless carried in compliance with the Civil Aviation carriage provisions.
