The Central Bank of Kenya Code of Conduct and Ethics

Section 1. Citation Section This Code may be cited as the Central Bank of Kenya Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Section 2. Interpretation Section In this Code, unless the context otherwise requires— "Commission" means the board of directors of the Central Bank of Kenya; "public officer" means an officer or employee to whom this Code applies under paragraph 3 of this Code.

Section 3. Application of Code Section 3(1)(a) the Central Bank of Kenya; and Section 3(1)(b) banks and financial institutions licensed under the Banking Act ( Cap. 488 ) that are state corporations. Section 3(2)(a) includes the members of the board, by whatever name called, carrying out or empowered to carry out functions relating to the overall direction and management of a bank or financial institution described in subparagraph (1)(b), other than members who are members of the public service for whom the Public Service Commission is the responsible Commission under the Act; and Section 3(2)(b) does not include members of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Kenya.

Section 4. Compliance with General Code Section 4(1) A public officer shall comply with all the requirements of the General Code of Conduct and Ethics set out in Part III of the Act. Section 4(2) The General Code of Conduct and Ethics set out in Part III of the Act is set out in the Appendix to this Code and shall form part of this Code.

Section 5. Other rules of conduct Section be patriotic and loyal to Kenya and at all times conduct himself in a manner that promotes the image and interests of the country;
