Short title 1. This Law may be cited as the Sex Disqualification (Removal) Law (1998 Revision). 2. Definition 2. In this Law — “Judge” means a Judge of the Grand Court. 3. Removal of disqualification on grounds of sex 3. A person shall not be disqualified by sex or marriage from the exercise of any public function, from being appointed to or holding any civil or judicial office or post, from entering or assuming or carrying on any civil profession or vocation or for admission to any incorporated society (whether incorporated by Royal Charter or otherwise), and a person shall not be exempted by sex or marriage from the liability to serve as a juror or to pay any tax. 4. Exemption of women in certain cases 4. (1) A Judge or Magistrate before whom a case is or may be heard may, in his discretion, on application or otherwise, exempt a woman from service on a jury by reason of the nature of the evidence to be given or of the issues to be tried.
