Short title 1. This Law may be cited as the Printing of Papers Law (1997 Revision). 2. Definitions 2. In this Law — “address” means place of business or abode; “paper” means a handbill, circular, notice, newspaper, periodical or magazine containing public news, intelligence or occurrences, or any remarks or observations thereon, printed for sale or in order to be distributed or dispersed; “print” includes any mechanical mode of reproduction; and “publish” means send forth for sale, distribution or dispersal. 3. Name of printer and publisher to be printed on papers 3. (1) Whoever prints or publishes any paper and who fails to print, or cause to be printed, his name and address thereon as required by subsection (3) is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars and to imprisonment for six months. (3) A name and address required to be printed on a paper under this section shall be printed in legible characters on the front of the paper if it consists of one leaf only, and in some conspicuous part of the paper if it consists of more than one leaf. 4. Printer to keep copy of paper, etc. 4. (1) A person who prints any paper shall carefully keep one copy thereof, on which he shall write or cause to be written or printed in legible characters, the name and address of the person who engaged him to print the same. Such printer shall so keep such copy for one year after the printing thereof and shall produce the same forthwith to any Magistrate on being served within such year with a notice in writing under the hand and seal of such Magistrate requiring him so to do. (2) Whoever fails to comply with subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of two hundred dollars and to imprisonment for three months. 5. Law not to bind Crown 5.
