Short title 1. This Law may be cited as the Genocide Law (2015 Revision). 2. Definition 2. In this Law — “Genocide Convention” means the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 9th December, 1948. 3. (3) Proceedings for an offence of genocide shall not be instituted except by or with the consent of the Director of Public Prosecutions. c Revised as at 2nd day of July, 2015 Page 5 Genocide Law (2015 Revision) SCHEDULE SCHEDULE Article II of Genocide Convention In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethical, racial or religious group, as such- (a) killing members of the group; (b) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
